Recognize migrants as development actors here and there
Eunomad affirms that migration represents a valuable resource for countries of origin and residence alike. Migrants, through individual and collective transfers of funds, have considerably
improved the living conditions of family members in origin countries. Through their activities in countries of residence, migrants contribute to the economies of European countries.
As the force behind many local initiatives, migrants have built new channels of active solidarity between the North and the South. They have become effective partners with local authorities, particularly in Europe, where they help to fight discrimination and promote social cohesion.
Migrants’ perspectives, expertise and experience must be heard, recognised and appreciated.

Promote migrants' active citizenship
EUNOMAD network highlights the positive role of migrants in the development of societies of origin and residence societies.
The migration/development nexus has become one of the major issues at stake in relations between European countries and migrants’ origin countries.
European societies are currently unaware of the positive impact that migration has on development. National and European policies focus on managing the flow of migration, at the expense of recognition for the positive, citizenship-building interactions occurring in both societies of origin and residence.
In order to build upon the positive impact of human mobility, European stakeholders – migrants’ associations, NGOs, local authorities, research centres, etc. – decided to form and coordinate a European network on migration and development: eunomad.
