Eunomad to the European Development Days 2011
On the 15th and 16th December 2011 was held in Warsaw, Poland, the sixth edition of European Development Days (EDD). The EDD is a major event for all development actors. This is the premier European forum on international affairs and development cooperation. It is - above all - a unique place where practitioners can "feed" decision makers with their experience and knowledge of the field.
During this sixth edition, Eunomad - in partnership with the European Red Cross, Terre des Hommes International Federation (THIF) and SOLIDAR – will organize a high-level panel on the 16th December from 2:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. on the theme: "Migration, Development and Human Rights: towards a changing paradigm in EU development policies" This panel will be moderated by the journalist Shada Islam well known to European circles. She is Head of Policy at think tank "Friends of Europe". Eunomad will be represented by Charito Basa from the Filipinos Women's Council and member of the Italian platform and Pascale Charhon, Manager for European Affairs and in charge of the European Advocacy for Eunomad. Will also participate Rob Rozenburg Deputy Head of Unit at DG Home Affairs, Mamadou Traoré Secretary Executive of the Malian Red Cross, Tony Elumelu Lucas from the Economic Community of West African States, Ignacio Packer General Secretary ot Terre des Hommes International Federation, and Anais Faure from the Centre for European Policy Studies.
In a first time, the panel will seek to provide an overview of the situation of vulnerable groups (like Children and Women) and to show how they are affected by migration.
